crazy hair!

Last week I took a couple of pictures for some friends for their Christmas card.  After pictures we walked to the railroad truss, so Will put him in the baby Bjorn.  We haven't used it since Garrison was several months old.  He didn't really like it, and Will was WORN OUT carrying an extra 30 pounds!  I love this picture, though, because it shows Garrison's crazy hair.  I know that some people would like us to cut it....Will's mom said, "don't you think you should just cut the front so it doesn't get in his eyes?'  At least Will and I are in agreement that neither one of us want to cut it yet!  So it's not just me who loves it!

People also ask me a lot if I take Garrison with me on photo shoots.  Um....no.  Do you really want an almost two year old running around or do you want me to actually focus on your pictures?  (I don't really say that out loud.  Just in my head).  Because when we do take him, this is what happens...

Shakerag Half Marathon

A couple of weeks ago I ran my second half marathon.  Our friends Josh and Jenifer drove down from Little Rock to also run it.  I didn't train as hard for this one as I did the half in September, so I wasn't sure how I would do.  It started off chilly, but I quickly warmed up and shed my jacket by the water station at mile 2.  The course was not very hilly, but the wind was brutal.  It blew towards us the whole race.  It felt like running uphill to me.  I finished in 2 hours 17 minutes and 53 seconds.  Tim was staying with the team right across the street from the start/finish line and he came over to cheer me on!  I'm glad he was there as I crossed the finish - Will missed it AGAIN!  Ha.  Someone asked me if I was mad that he missed it....heck no!  He was taking care of Garrison.  If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be able to run!

Thanks, Tim for taking this picture!

This is before the race started.  We were COLD!

Sweet P waiting for her Mama and Daddy to cross the finish line!

Mackenzie was so proud!  When Josh and Jenifer were about to cross the finish line, I took Mac to them, and Josh picked her up and ran with her across the finish.  I think we all lost it.

Post race.  Josh and Jenifer look exactly the same as they did before - I look like a hot mess, and Jenifer does NOT look like she just ran 13.1 miles!!

I love this sweet family of 4.

Jenifer and I both have been trying to figure out when we can run our next race!

Pumpkins

This post is long overdue, but the Episcopal church in Oxford has the best little pumpkin patch every year. I wanted to get some cute pictures of Garrison. I was focused on G and looked up to see this....

He makes this face a lot when he's cutting teeth.  He grinds his teeth!

We even talked Hayden into going with us and taking a picture with Garrison.  Garrison LOVES Hayden!  Whenever Hayden comes over to my Mom and Dad's house, Garrison chases him around.  Hayden will say, "he's wearing me out!"

We actually went two days - we met Meredith, Judy and Anderes to take pictures of Anders.  I think it's going to be hard to get pictures of them together.  They are both mobile and don't want to just sit and smile for pictures!

twinkle twinkle and the letter "L"

I wanted to write this down before I forgot!  We had Sesame Street's favorite songs DVD playing and the song on was "Twinkle Twinkle."  I didn't really think Garrison was paying attention....actually, I thought he was about to get in trouble.  He was behind the green chair on the bricks.  All the sudden he stood up and had his "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" book and brought it to me!

Last week we were watching the Letter Factory DVD and it was on the letter "L."  Garrison ran into the kitchen.  I had no idea what he was doing, but he quickly came back into the den with his letter "L" off the refrigerator!

He may not talk a lot, but he definitely comprehends!  Smart boy.

Now if he'd only learn to stay out of the dog bowl (As I'm typing this he just played in the dog water bowl and Will is putting him in time out!).

my sweet baby

I love this picture.  Our friend Chris Jenkins took it at our ribbon cutting/grand opening at the studio.  Garrison doesn't look like a baby anymore!

turkey prints

I saw an idea similar to this on pinterest (If you don't know what pinterest is, don't look it up - you'll get addicted!).  This afternoon Will was working at the studio, so Garrison and I made Thanksgiving turkeys out of his hand and foot prints!

Phonetography Art Show

A few weeks ago Will and I hosted an art show at our new studio.  It was called "phonetography" - all the pictures were taken with people's phones!  There were 8 artists involved, and all of our pictures were completely different!  This was our first event of hopefully many, and we were SHOCKED when around 200 people came!

These are our friends Orlando and Jarvis. They own Signature Sounds, a graphic design company and recording studio.

The 8 artists...

funky cuffs

I saw some cuffs like this online and Mom was able to make them!  I love being able to design him clothes!  I know I won't be able to do it forever, so I'm enjoying it for right now!

A close up of the cuffs...

And the back pocket....

bicycles and polka dots

This is one of my favorite pair of pants my mom has made Garrison.  I love the material of the bicycles and the polka dots!

We were outside and he heard the train go by.  I love when he makes this surprised face!

FaceTime

What did we do before FaceTime?  Almost every day or every other day we FaceTime with my parents.  Sometimes Garrison is attentive and sometimes he is distracted, but it's definitely never boring!

I mean, who does FaceTime with a bird???

Or with Frosty the Snowman?

Garrison's nose is red and his eyes are puffy because he LOVED Frosty.  Frosty sings and dances.  Every time he would finish, Garrison would sign "more" and whine.  I told him we weren't going to watch Frosty all day on the phone.  He cried and cried when it was over.  Sweet boy.  So, like any good grandparents, my parents are going to bring him Frosty on Thursday so we can keep him at our house!

the competition is on!!

I wouldn't say that I'm a competitive person.  I love to play games (when I win).  I love a good challenge.  But I'm not overly competitive.  This blog was somewhat born out of a challenge with Marianna to blog consistently.  Well, obviously I don't blog consistently unless it's a competition (maybe I'm more competitive than I admit)!  So Marianna and I have decided to blog every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We haven't figured out the prize yet, but we decided the stakes needed to be higher this time than just dinner!  :)  So for anyone who cares (my parents), get ready for daily blog updates!!

linen after Labor Day

I bought this little bow tie to wear with his linen suit for Garrison's 18 month pictures.  We never got around to taking them in Columbus, so one weekend when we went to Oxford we went to Rowan Oak.  I wanted an "older" look, so we used an old quilt of my moms and a sock monkey!  Will almost protested him wearing this outfit because it was after Labor Day, and you aren't supposed to wear linen after labor day! Ha!

I love how much Garrison laughs at Will.  And it's definitely true - it's much harder to take pictures of your own child than someone else's!

This week Will and I are in Memphis - Will is leading worship at a Spiritual Emphasis week at a school here.  My parents are keeping Garrison.  He's started saying "Bar-Ba" (Barbara).  I wonder how many times he's heard Will say Barbara???  Sweet boy.  He's saying my mom's name more than Mama!
